Title: 2016 MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN UPDATE C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided a 2016 update to the 2013-2018 Multi Year Accessibility Plan and 2013-2018 Transit Multi-Year Accessibility Plan which provides a status update report on the progress made to achieve the goals outlines in the multi-year accessibility plans and barrier removal activities outlined in the Plan. 2016 MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN UPDATE

 

C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided a 2016 update to the 2013-2018 Multi Year Accessibility Plan and 2013-2018 Transit Multi-Year Accessibility Plan which provides a status update report on the progress made to achieve the goals outlines in the multi-year accessibility plans and barrier removal activities outlined in the Plan. 

 

Ms. Dillon provided the following 2016 Multi Year Accessibility Plan updates:

 

General

                     A special mention of Kim Demberline, past Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) to acknowledge her passing in January 2016 and to celebrate her achievements and contributions to the AAC; and

                     The City’s compliance with the AODA’s Design for Public Spaces Standard, including: accessibility provisions within the City’s recently created Transportation Guidelines, accessibility updates to the City’s Zoning By-law, and accessibility considerations made through the Engineering Department on the new construction or reconstruction of all applicable public spaces.

Transit

                     The work completed on City of Barrie Transit policies to ensure barrier removal for our transit services and programs, including the Attendant Support Program and transit eligibility criteria;

                     The instaIlation of external announcement systems on City buses to advise bus patrons of the route and destination prior to boarding; and

                     A review of all Transit stops for accessibility to ensure appropriate planning for stop improvements going forward.
