RECOGNITION OF KAITLYN SOULES FOR HER ACTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH SAVING THE LIVES OF HER FAMILY FROM A HOUSE FIRE.
Mayor Lehman invited Kaitlyn Soules to join him at the podium to be recognized for her actions associated with saving the lives of her family from a house fire.
Mayor Lehman described the incident indicating that in the early morning hours of June 14, 2016, Kaitlyn age 12, woke up to the smell of smoke wafting through her Barrie home. He commented that Kaitlyn acted quickly by running and waking up her family including her two brothers Dennis Jr, age 13 and Gordon, age 9 to ensure that they were safely out of the house fire. Mayor Lehman advised that Kaitlyn’s home was destroyed by that fire.
Mayor Lehman discussed how Kaitlyn’s act of bravery and quick thinking resulted in saving the lives of her family instead of it being a major tragedy. He indicated that the Award of Merit was created to recognize acts of incredible bravery that save lives. Mayor Lehman noted that Kaitlyn’s family and the City of Barrie are proud of her act of bravery.
Mayor Lehman congratulated and acknowledged Kaitlyn for her act of bravery and presented her with the Award of Merit and a certificate.
