Title: GENERAL UPDATES Sergeant J. Brooks of the Barrie Police Service noted that there were no recent community or safety issues to report in Ward One. R. Calvano, Director of Campus Safety and Security at Georgian College provided an overview of the security initiatives at the College. Mr. Calvano advised that last year the College introduced a free mobile app called Safe@Georgian. He noted that this app includes Georgian College security contact information and news feeds such as weather and emergency lockdown information as part of the College's mass communication notification system. Mr. Calvano advised that the College has adopted a new emergency lockdown procedure in the event of a possible violent or life-threatening incident. R. Osborne, Supervisor of Enforcement Services provided an update from the Enforcement Services Branch of the Legislative and Court Services Department on matters related to:

 

                     An overview of business licensing requirements in accordance with the City’s Transportation and Business Licensing By-laws;

                     Complaints regarding interior and exterior property standard issues; and

                     The Applications, Permits, Licenses and Inspections (APLI) database is scheduled to launch in the Spring 2017.  This database will allow Enforcement Services staff to print violation notices while off site as well as improve resident notification timelines.
