Title: AGE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY PLAN C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator of the Human Resources Department advised that City Council adopted Motion 17-G-038 at its meeting held on March 6, 2017 regarding the Age-Friendly Community Planning Project Implementation Plan and Project Final Report. Ms. Dillon noted that input from the general public and seniors service providers obtained through surveys, focus groups, interviews and a community forum assisted in the development of this Age-Friendly Community Plan. She advised that recently other neighbourhood associations, the Probus group and a few residents have expressed interest in providing their feedback regarding the Age-Friendly Community Plan. R. Cotton suggested that these neighbourhood associations and residents be invited to future meetings of the Seniors Advisory Committee for the opportunity to provide their feedback concerning the Age-Friendly Community Plan. C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator reviewed the Implementation portion of the Final Report of the Barrie Age-Friendly Community Plan.  Ms. Dillon provided an update regarding the status of the Age-Friendly Community Goals pertaining to: 

 

                     Outdoor Spaces and Buildings;

                     Transportation;

                     Housing;

                     Social and Recreational Opportunities;

                     Health; and

                     Community Life.

 

 

 

 

 

Members of the Committee volunteered to take the lead to implement the goals and strategies identified in the Age-Friendly Community Plan that were assigned to the Seniors Advisory Committee.

 

The Committee deferred discussion of the Age-Friendly Barrie Evaluation Criteria Indicators to a future meeting.
