UPDATE REGARDING MERIDIAN SQUARE/MEMORIAL PLACE RE-DESIGN
G. Diamantopolous, Facility Capital Supervisor provided an update regarding the future plans for Memorial Square and Meridian Place.
He discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An aerial view of the Memorial Square/Meridian Place Redevelopment;
• A rendering of the Cenotaph at Memorial Square/Meridian Place;
• An outline of the plan to maximize the flexibility of use for Memorial Square/Meridian Place Site;
• An aerial view of Memorial Square and Dunlop Streetscape;
• An outline of the material and planting palettes for the Memorial Square and Dunlop Streetscape;
• An overview of the lighting for Memorial Square and Dunlop Streetscape;
• An aerial view of the plan and lighting for the Nine Mile Portage Terrace;
• A rendering of the Nine Mile Portage Interpretation; and
• An aerial view of the plan and lighting for Meridian Place.
Mr. Diamantopolous noted he has tried to incorporate suggestions from the Committee into the Meridian Square/Memorial Place Re-design. Mr. Diamantopolous commented that design plans are being finalized with projected start of construction June, 2017.
Members of the Committee asked questions related to the information provided and received responses from City staff.
