Title: DISCUSSION REGARDING SPRINKLERS IN NEW CONSTRUCTION The Committee met and discussed requirements for sprinklers in new construction. Councillor, B, Ainsworth outlined her concerns about that lack of no regulation for sprinklers in residential homes given the varying types of residential developments proposed in the City of Barrie. S. Barks, Manager of Building Services commented that the Building Code overrules the Municipal By-laws with respect to buildings structure requirements. He noted that the Building Code requires sprinklers in residential buildings with more than four stories. Fire Chief Boyes commented that the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs supports sprinklers in residential homes as there is clear evidence sprinklers protect and saves lives.
