Brislin, Senior Planner reviewed correspondence from HIP Developments dated July 26, 2017 summarizing their proposed plans for the selective demolition of the Prince of Wales Public School (the school) located at 80 Bradford Street. A. Bourrie, Director Planning and Building Services provided an overview of the current condition of the school. Ms. Bourrie discussed inspections by the City's Building Services Branch that concluded that the school was unsalvageable in its current state. She noted that the City's Fire and Emergency Services Department also identified health and safety concerns with the school. Ms. Bourrie advised that a heritage/cultural assessment of the school property has been requested. K. Brislin, Senior Planner reviewed correspondence from HIP Developments dated July 26, 2017 summarizing their proposed plans for the selective demolition of the Prince of Wales Public School (the school) located at 80 Bradford Street.

 

A. Bourrie, Director Planning and Building Services provided an overview of the current condition of the school.  Ms. Bourrie discussed inspections by the City’s Building Services Branch that concluded that the school was unsalvageable in its current state.  She noted that the City’s Fire and Emergency Services Department also identified health and safety concerns with the school.  Ms. Bourrie advised that a heritage/cultural assessment of the school property has been requested.  She stated that Planning and Building Services Department will be submitting a memorandum to Council in September to provide an update on the status of the proposed demolition and site alteration of the school.  Ms. Bourrie noted that she will keep the Heritage Barrie Committee apprised of the results of the heritage/cultural assessment and the status of the proposed demolition of the school.
