RECOGNITION OF THE BARRIE BAYCATS FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN WINNING ITS FIFTH CONSECUTIVE INTERCOUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Mayor Lehman recognized the Barrie Baycats on their efforts in winning their fifth consecutive Intercounty Barrie League Championship. He called upon Mr. Angus Roy, the Team Manager and a Team Representative to the podium to recognize the Team and to provide an overview of their season.
Mr. Dave Mills, President of the Barrie Baycats commented that the Barrie Baycats Team had a good run and that they are ready for next season.
Mr. Roy discussed the Team’s season, noting that they had a slow start by their standards and finished the season with 27 and 8. He commented that this Team is a reflection of the Barrie community, a wonderful group of people, with a wide variety of skills working towards a common goal. Mr. Roy thanked members of Council for the recognition and noted that they are very proud to be representatives of the City of Barrie and hope they can do it again next year.
Mayor Lehman commented on the success and accomplishments of the Barrie Baycats Team to win the Intercounty Championships five years in a row. Mayor Lehman presented the Team with a donation of $555.00 in honour of their five consecutive win to the send two kids to the Junior Baycats Camp. He again congratulated the Team and commented that they have made our community proud.
