PRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD’S PROPOSED 2017 BUDGET REQUEST
Mr. Ray Duhamel, Chair of the Barrie Public Library Board provided a presentation concerning the Barrie Public Library Board’s 2017 Budget Request. Mr. Duhamel introduced Mr. Marc Saunders, CEO of the Barrie Public Library, members of Barrie Public Library staff and the members of the Barrie Public Library Board who were present.
Mr. Duhamel discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• Highlights of the budget request including the Library’s strengths and strategic directions;
• The value of the library services provided, the successes of the Barrie Pubic Library and the challenges that are being experienced;
• A graph illustrating the circulation per active cardholder in comparison to other Ontario municipalities; and
• An overview of the 2017 municipal operating grant request.
In closing Mr. Duhamel summarized the 2017 Budget request and discussed the increase over the 2016 Budget.
Members of City Council asked a number of questions of Mr. Duhamel and Mr. Saunders concerning the information presented and received responses.
