PRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE POLICE SERVICE BOARD’S PROPOSED 2017 BUDGET REQUEST
Mr. Jim Dickie, Chair of the Barrie Police Service Board introduced Police Chief Kimberley Greenwood and noted that members of the Police Service Board and Senior Staff from the Barrie Police Service were also present.
Chief Greenwood provided a presentation concerning the Barrie Police Service 2017 Operating and Capital Budget request.
Chief Greenwood discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• The highlights of the 2017 to 2019 Strategic Business Plan;
• A chart summarizing the Barrie Police Service complement for the period of 2011 to 2021;
• Current and future initiatives and programs;
• A chart summarizing the 2016 Operating Budget in comparison to the 2017 Operating Budget request;
• A summary of the sources of operating expenditures and decreases reflected in the budget request;
• The costs associated with operating the Police Service facilities and details related to the First Responders Campus;
• A pie graph illustrating sources of grants and revenue;
• A summary of the Capital Budget request; and
• The proposed new capital initiatives.
In closing, Chief Greenwood thanked the members of the Barrie Police Services Board, the Barrie Police staff and the citizens who make the Service strong and safe. She requested approval of the municipal funding portion of the Barrie Police Service 2017 Budget request.
Members of Council asked a number of questions of the presenter and received responses.
