PRESENTATION REGARDING THE SIMCOE COMMUNITY SERVICES SELF-ADVOCACY GROUP
Jamie Hall, Community Stakeholder, Simcoe Community Services provided introductions of Jacquie McKnight, Continuous Quality Improvement Manager, Simcoe Community Services and the presenters Brian Waring and Morgan Cope, members of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Council.
Mr. Waring, member of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Council discussed the background of the Simcoe Community Services. Mr. Waring highlighted the programs and services offered by the Simcoe Community Services. Mr. Waring provided an overview of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Bill of Rights. He commented that the Self Advocates Council meets monthly to discuss any concerns or issues related to the services, rights and safety associated with individuals supported by the Simcoe Community Services.
M. Cope, member of the Simcoe Community Services, Self Advocates Council discussed her concerns related to transit and accessibility to buildings. Ms. Cope noted that she felt that many improvements have been made to promote accessibility in the municipality.
Members of the Committee asked a number of questions of the presenters and received responses.
