COUNTY OF SIMCOE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT PLAN
G. Marek, Manager of Planning from the County of Simcoe provided a presentation concerning the County of Simcoe’s Archaeological Management Plan (AMP).
Mr. Marek discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An overview on the County of Simcoe’s AMP;
• The Legislation and Policy Direction associated to the AMP;
• A description of an Archaeological Potential Model;
• Historical information associated to the potential model of Indigenous sites;
• Background Information associated to the potential model for historical sites;
• An overview on when to apply an archaeological potential planning layer;
• Revisions to the County’s policies and procedures;
• The Indigenous communities engagement in the AMP;
• A map illustrating the First Nation Treaty Lands;
• The AMP Steering Committee;
• The public consultation process;
• The County’s endorsement of the AMP;
• The Archaeological potential mapping resources; and
• The next steps for the AMP.
The Committee asked a number of questions to Mr. Marek and received responses.
