| 2 | | | Presentation - AC/RC | CANADIAN INDEX OF WELLBEING AND RESILIENCE COLLABORATIVE PRESENTATION
Ms. Lynne Slotek, Associate Director for Knowledge Mobilisation, Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) provided a presentation regarding the Canadian Index of Wellbeing entitled “Measuring What Matters”. Ms. Slotek provided background information regarding the development of the Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW) and outlined the vision and mission associated with the index. She indicated that the Canadian Index of Wellbeing is rooted in Canadian Values. Ms. Slotek described the objectives of the CIW and reviewed why it was developed. She provided the definition of wellbeing adopted by the CIW and introduced the leadership and the international partners associated with the Canadian Index of Wellbeing.
Ms. Slotek reviewed the criteria utilized for the selection of the indicators for the index. She provided the framework for the CIW and explained the purpose of the CIW composite index. Walter Fischer, Supervisor of Parks Planning and Development for the City of Barrie provided a presentation regarding the North Shore Trail Update. Mr. Fischer described the North Shore Trail Master Plan and noted that it was approved by City Council in 2002. He provided a status update for each of the recommendations contained within the North Shore Master Plan.
Members of the community were provided the opportunity to address the Committee regarding their concerns regarding the North Shore trail.
Sarah Uffleman commented that she feels the “Adopt-a-trail Program” has never been fully implemented. She suggested that the City form an Advisory Committee with residents, naturalist clubs and other stakeholders to provide a method to communicate with the various stakeholders. She stated that she feels that a structured mechanism is required for community involvement.
