E. Terry, Planner of the Planning and Building Services Department provided a presentation regarding the Official Plan Review.
Mr. Terry discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· The historical background information regarding the initial approval and updates to the Official Plan;
· An overview of the Hewitt’s Secondary Plan and the Salem Secondary Plan;
· Highlights of the Provincial Policy Statement and the Provincial Growth Plan; and
· A review of the City’s objectives based on the following themes:
o Urban city
o Waterfront city
o Complete city
o Resilient city
o Mobile city
o Prosperous city
o Safe city
o Cultural city.
In closing, Mr. Terry detailed the next steps in the Official Plan Review process.

D. Warrilow provided an update regarding a recent meeting with the Heritage Walking Tours Working Group and staff from Access Barrie to review the content of the various Barrie Heritage Walking Tours booklets currently in circulation. He advised that the Heritage Walking Tours Working Group proposed combining the existing Barrie Heritage Walking Tours booklets into one consolidated version and eliminating obsolete or duplicate entries. The Committee agreed that designing one comprehensive, up-to-date Barrie Heritage Walking Tours booklet would be more cost efficient and user-friendly.
The Committee discussed the Heritage Walking Tours Working Group’s suggestions for the proposed consolidated Barrie Heritage Walking Tours booklet including: potential formatting changes, updating the photographs/illustrations and acknowledging the contributors to former Barrie Heritage Walking Tours publications. | Received | |

D. Warrilow provided an update regarding the Community Heritage Ontario (CHO) Board Meeting held on March 25, 2017. Mr. Warrilow reviewed the services provided by the CHO to municipal heritage committees.
The Committee agreed that D. Warrilow, Heritage Barrie Committee Member, be granted approval to attend the 2017 Ontario Heritage Conference to be held on June 8, 9 and 10, 2017 in Ottawa. The expenses related to the registration, travel, accommodation and meals for the conference are not to exceed $1,750.00 (Account #01-06-0934-0000-3071). | Received | |
