TMP-22000 2  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE SIMCOE EMERGENCY CAMPUS ACCESSIBILITY REVIEW Lindsay Worton, Manager of Facility Planning and Development provided a brief overview regarding the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Campus project. Ms. Worton introduced Jessica Liefl, Facility Capital Project Supervisor and Bill Lett, Lett Architects Inc. participants on the project. Mr. Lett discussed slides concerning the following topics: · An overview of the Campus facts; · Illustrations depicting the following: · The site plan; · Fairview Road North-South along the campus site; · The vehicular entrances for police, fire, paramedic and staff entrances; · The paramedic exit; · The public entrance; · The accident reporting entrance · The staff entrance · An overview of the accessible design features of the campus site; and · Pictures illustrating the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Campus. Mr. Lett advised that the Barrie Simcoe Emergency Campus project is still in the preliminary design stages. TMP-22002 2  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION REGARDING THE SIMCOE COMMUNITY SERVICES SELF-ADVOCACY GROUP Jamie Hall, Community Stakeholder, Simcoe Community Services provided introductions of Jacquie McKnight, Continuous Quality Improvement Manager, Simcoe Community Services and the presenters Brian Waring and Morgan Cope, members of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Council. Mr. Waring, member of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Council discussed the background of the Simcoe Community Services. Mr. Waring highlighted the programs and services offered by the Simcoe Community Services. Mr. Waring provided an overview of the Simcoe Community Services Self Advocates Bill of Rights. He commented that the Self Advocates Council meets monthly to discuss any concerns or issues related to the services, rights and safety associated with individuals supported by the Simcoe Community Services. M. Cope, member of the Simcoe Community Services, Self Advocates Council discussed her concerns related to transit and accessibility to buildings. TMP-22001 2  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION BY THE COMMUNITY WHOLENESS CENTRE REGARDING INDEPENDENT LIVING CANADA Y. Gallo, Executive Director of the Community Wholeness Centre (CWC) provided a presentation regarding Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT). Ms. Gallo introduced Allistair Mills, Chair of the Community Wholeness Centre Board and members of the Community Wholeness Centre. Ms. Gallo discussed slides concerning the following topics: · An overview of the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT); · A description of Independent Living Canada; · The early guiding principles of Independent Living; · The current guiding principles of Independent Living in Canada, individual or organization levels; and · The background of the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto (CILT). In closing, Ms. Gallo discussed the gap in Independent Living Services between Toronto and Collingwood. Ms. Gallo noted that the Community Wholeness Centre (CWC) is interested in becoming an accredited member of the Independent Living Agency but are required to meet certain criteria. TMP-22003 2  Presentation - AC/RCDISCUSSION REGARDING THE TAXI AND RIDE SHARING PILOT PROGRAM R. Osborne, Supervisor of Enforcement Services provided an overview regarding the Taxi and Ride Sharing Pilot Program and the legislative requirements of the municipality, Provincial and Federal Governments related to the Taxi Industry. The Committee discussed their concerns related to the lack of Accessible Taxis in the City of Barrie and received feedback from Mr. Osborne. A member of the public discussed concerns related to the shortage of accessible taxis in the City of Barrie and times of availability. Mr. Osborne suggested that the Committee and member of public provide their feedback to Enforcement Services concerning the Taxi Ride Sharing Pilot Program to advise of their concerns about accessible taxis.   Action details Not available
