Tom Hanrahan, Supervisor of Traffic and Parking Services and Jeff Sharp, Supervisor of Traffic and Community Safety provided a presentation concerning the changes to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) associated to Pedestrian Crossovers (PXO’S).
Mr. Hanrahan and Mr. Sharp discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· The Ministry of Transportation updates to the Ontario Traffic Manual Book associated to Book 15, the new PXO options;
· The new three PXO options providing pedestrians additional safety when crossing streets;
· The new HTA regulations associated to pedestrian crossings and PXO signage;
· The existing options to the HTA;
· The new PXO options providing cost effective solutions to ensure pedestrian safety;
· The number of conditions to be met in order to implement a PXO;
· A diagram illustrating the Ontario Traffic Manual’s roadside signs and pavement markings;
· A picture illustrating the new PXO sign;
· Diagrams illustrating Types B, C and D options associated to the new PXO’s; and

1. That the site location, program and facility concepts for the Salem Satellite Operations Yard, and the phased approach for immediate and future operational growth at the R.A. Archer Operations Centre as identified in the Report to Infrastructure, Investment and Development Services Committee dated June 18, 2018, be endorsed in principal subject to future capital prioritization and approvals.
2. That the $1.7M currently approved as design phase for renovations at the R.A. Archer Operations Centre within capital project #000282 (Operations Centre Renovations) be reallocated to construction phase, for immediate use to construct a salt-sand storage building at the R.A.
