TMP-23235 1  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION BY THE CITY OF BARRIE’S TRANSIT AND PARKING STRATEGY DEPARTMENT REGARDING TRANSIT FOR SENIORS J. Zimmerman, Supervisor of Transit Operations and Infrastructure of the Transit and Parking Strategy Department provided a presentation entitled, “Barrie Transit: Getting You There”. Mr. Zimmerman discussed slides concerning the following topics: · An overview of 2017 Barrie Transit statistics; · A listing of Barrie Transit’s specialized and conventional transit service improvements; · A review of Barrie Transit’s Vision including efficiency improvements through the division of supporting and core bus routes; · A map depicting Barrie Transit Express Routes 100A and 100B; · An overview of Barrie Transit’s user-friendly MyRide website; · A review of Barrie Transit infrastructure improvements; and · An overview of the City of Barrie’s Mobility Hub Study. TMP-23243 1  Presentation - AC/RCPRESENTATION BY JASON MACLENNAN OF THE GILBERT CENTRE REGARDING THE AGING LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY J. Maclennan, Seniors Program Coordinator of the Gilbert Centre provided a presentation concerning the Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer+ (LGBTQ+) Program. Mr. Maclennan noted that the Gilbert Centre provides social and support services to the LGBTQ+ communities of Simcoe Muskoka. Mr. Maclennan discussed slides concerning the following topics: · A review of the Gilbert Centre’s corporate values; · The need to provide a Seniors Program for the LGBTQ+ community to reduce social isolation and to assist with overcoming barriers; · A County of Simcoe map illustrating the percentage of senior population over the age of 55 as of 2016; · An overview of the Older LGBTQ+ Program at the Gilbert Centre; and · A listing of LGBTQ definitions. TMP-23236 1  Presentation - AC/RCSENIORS HOUSING UPDATES C. Dillon, Accessibility Coordinator reviewed the Planning and Building Services Memorandum to City Council dated February 12, 2018 regarding the Annual Affordable Housing Monitoring Report for the period from July 2016 to December 2017. Ms. Dillon noted that the highlights of this Monitoring Report include the following: · The vacancy rate for the rental housing market in the City of Barrie improved; · The rents in the City of Barrie increased at a faster rate than the provincial average; and · The secondary rental market in the City of Barrie supplied a sufficient number of units for rent to match the demand for secondary rental. The Monitoring Report referred to the City of Barrie’s 10-year Plan for Affordable Housing and noted that affordable housing is defined as the lesser of 30 percent of a household’s annual income or 10 percent below the average market price. M. Malcolm expressed her concern that a home priced 10 percent below the average market price may still not be affordable to those in need of housing. R.
