TMP-23519 2  Presentation - AC/RCJAPAN TWINNING UPDATE M. Sachkiw provided an update regarding Japan Twinning. Mr. Sachkiw advised that plans are for a youth delegation from Murayama, Japan to visit the City of Barrie during the summer 2019. Mr. Sachkiw noted that there are no plans in place for an adult delegation from Murayama, Japan to visit the City of Barrie in 2019. TMP-23520 2  Presentation - AC/RCYOUTH AMBASSADORS UPDATE The Committee met and discussed the status of the Youth Ambassadors visits as follows: Zweibrucken, Germany D. Morrison, Chair provided an update regarding the Global Perspectives Programs. Mr. Morrison advised that a new group of students participating in the Global Perspectives Program at Innisdale Secondary School began on February 4, 2019. Mr. Morrison commented that the application process for the 2019/2020 Global Perspectives Program has commenced and that the deadline for submissions is February 22, 2019. Mr. Morrison had discussions with the Committee regarding a fundraising initiative for the Youth Ambassadors/Global Perspectives Program. Mr. Morrison advised that funds raised would be used to assist those students who are unable to participate in the program for financial reasons. TMP-23522 2  Presentation - AC/RCGERMAN TWINNING AND GERMAN CANADIAN CLUB UPDATE R. Warman provided an update regarding German Twinning. Mr. Warman advised that a group of approximately 50 visitors consisting of choir members, musicians and tourists will be visiting from Zweibrucken, Germany during October, 2019. Mr. Warman commented that the itinerary for the delegation still needs to be finalized and that further information regarding expenses will be discussed at a future meeting. TMP-23523 2  Presentation - AC/RCTHE BOROUGH OF HARROGATE, NORTH YORKSHIRE UNITED KINGDOM UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire United Kingdom. He advised that the St. John Fisher Music Tour Band from the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom will be visiting the City of Barrie on July 12, 2019 and during their visit there are plans for the Band to play a concert. Mr. Sergeant noted that the itinerary for the Band still needs to be finalized and that expenses will be discussed at a future meeting. TMP-23526 2  Presentation - AC/RCSIR ROBERT BARRIE PROJECT UPDATE B. Sergeant provided an update regarding the Sir Robert Barrie Project. Mr. Sergeant discussed Phase 3 of the Sir Robert Barrie Project which includes plans to commission a painting of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship Barrie (K-138) Flower Class Corvette in action during the Second World War. Mr. Sergeant commented that the artist will be Peter Rindlisbacher. Mr. Warman discussed the relocation of the one-sixth scale model of the HMCS Barrie currently on display at Downtown Barrie Public Library to City Hall.Received  Action details Not available
