G. Marek, Manager of Planning from the County of Simcoe provided a presentation concerning the County of Simcoe’s Archaeological Management Plan (AMP).
Mr. Marek discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· An overview on the County of Simcoe’s AMP;
· The Legislation and Policy Direction associated to the AMP;
· A description of an Archaeological Potential Model;
· Historical information associated to the potential model of Indigenous sites;
· Background Information associated to the potential model for historical sites;
· An overview on when to apply an archaeological potential planning layer;
· Revisions to the County’s policies and procedures;
· The Indigenous communities engagement in the AMP;
· A map illustrating the First Nation Treaty Lands;
· The AMP Steering Committee;
· The public consultation process;
· The County’s endorsement of the AMP;
· The Archaeological potential mapping resources; and
· The next steps for the AMP.

C. Froese provided an update on the Committee’s 2020 Budget. The Committee discussed purchasing promotional items such as a tablecloth with a map, historical games, books for display purposes and name tags for Committee members during Heritage Barrie events.

The Committee discussed the preparations for 2020 Heritage Week events including a proclamation and a presentation to City Council to be held on February 10, 2020.

He noted that he is currently working on the presentation material and will provide an update at the next meeting.
