2.1 HB 2  Discussion Item2020 HERITAGE BARRIE AWARDS The Committee met and discussed the 2020 Heritage Barrie Awards nominations. T. Wierzba, Planner provided an overview of the nominations received for the properties located at 62 William Street, 113 Collier Street and Trinity Anglican Church, 24 Collier Street. The Committee selected award recipients in the following categories: · Residential · Commercial · Institutional Mr. Wierzba advised that he will contact the award recipients and report back to the Committee. The Committee discussed other potential properties/individuals for future Heritage Barrie Awards. The Committee and City staff discussed alternative award ideas as well as how the awards could be presented to the recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic. 2.2 HB 2  Discussion ItemEXPANDING THE HISTORIC NEIGHBOURHOOD STRATEGY - MOTION 18-G-075 Councillor, C. Riepma provided an overview regarding motion 18 -G-075 concerning the expansion of the Historic Neigbourhood Strategy. T. Wierzba, Planner provided an update regarding expanding the Historic Neighbourhood Strategy and Draft Official Plan as it relates to historic neighbourhoods. Mr. Wierzba advised that a new schedule to the Draft Official Plan has been developed related to historic neighbourhoods. The Committee discussed other potential historical neighbourhoods for the Draft Official Plan Schedule. 2.3 HB 2  Discussion Item2020 LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S ONTARIO HERITAGE AWARDS The Committee met and discussed the 2020 Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Awards. Councillor, J. Harris will research the criteria related to the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Awards and will provide the Committee with an update at a future meeting.Received  Action details Not available
2.4 HB 2  Discussion ItemSTATUS OF POTENTIAL LISTINGS TO THE MUNICIPAL HERITAGE REGISTER The Committee discussed potential listings to add to the Municipal Heritage Registrar. T. Wierzba, Planner advised that a Municipal Heritage Register nomination form has been submitted for 56 Cumberland Street. The Committee discussed and agreed to add the property located at 56 Cumberland Street to the Municipal Heritage Registrar as a listed property. T. Wierzba provided an update on the status of the City-owned properties located at 151, 155, and 161 Bradford Street. Mr. Wierzba noted that a consultant has been hired to complete a Cultural Heritage Inventory Study on these properties. Mr. Wierzba discussed the next steps and timelines associated with reporting back to the General Committee. C. Colebatch will be preparing a memo on behalf of the Committee concerning the rationale for adding the properties located at 151, 155 and 161 Bradford Street to the Municipal Heritage Registar.Received  Action details Not available

2.5 HB 1  Discussion ItemDEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS UNDER REVIEW T. Wierzba, Planner provided an update regarding 72 High Street. Mr. Wierzba advised that the property owners of 72 High Street have inquired about applying for a building permit to replace the second storey railing and painting the outside of their home. Mr. Wierzba advised that because the property has been designated as a heritage property that he was looking for the Committee’s input concerning the proposed upgrades to this property. 2.6 HB 2  Discussion ItemREMEMBRANCE DAY C. Froese provided an update regarding the “Lest We Forget Banners” in downtown Barrie. The Committee discussed laying a wreath at the Cenotaph during this year’s Remembrance Day ceremonies but because of the COVID-19 pandemic they agreed to make a donation of $100.00 to the Royal Canadian Legion Barrie Branch. The Committee approved an expenditure of funds from the Heritage Barrie Committee cost centre #1025-620200 for an amount of $100.00 as a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion Barrie Branch in recognition of Remembrance Day and commitment to preserving history in Barrie.Received  Action details Not available
2.7 HB 2  Discussion ItemHERITAGE PLAQUE UPDATE T. Wierzba, Planner provided an update on the Heritage Plaques. The Committee provided their feedback to T. Wierzba regarding the heritage plaques and the Committee felt that the circa date should be included on the plaque. Mr. Wierzba noted that he would like to try to have a Heritage Plaque order placed prior to the end of 2020. C. Colebatch, C. Froese and D. Moore volunteered to assist Mr. Wierzba by contacting the homeowners of the designated properties listed in the Municipal Heritage Registry to determine whether they would like a heritage plaque for their home.   Action details Not available
2.8 HB 3  Discussion ItemDOORS OPEN UPDATE T. Wierzba, Planner provided an update regarding Doors Open. He advised that he had contacted the previous Heritage Barrie Award winners inviting them to participate in the Doors Open Events. T. Wierzba thanked Cathy Colebatch for taking the initiative to communicate with the Downtown Barrie Business Improvement Association concerning upcoming Doors Open events.Received  Action details Not available
2.9 HB 2  Discussion ItemCULTURE DAYS UPDATE T. Wierzba provided an update regarding Culture Days. Mr. Wierzba advised that because of the COVID-19 pandemic the decision had been made to postpone plans for the recording of the walking tour narrated by the Town Crier until further notice.
