The Committee considered various economic, employment and socio-economic factors. The Committee expressed intent in developing a strategy that would extend beyond the mathematical calculation of either a median or average of comparator municipalities to include adjustments reflecting the financial status of Barrie citizens. The Committee considered the potential to seek input from the public with respect to Council compensation and determined that the challenges outweighed the potential value as the members were appointed to represent the citizens of Barrie.
