Grant Wilson and Geri Poisson of Firebird Community Cycle provided an overview on the Firebird Community Cycle, a not-for-profit bicycle repair shop.  He advised that the Firebird Community Cycle would like to partner with the City to provide bicycle repair stations at City facilities and community centres and Barrie Go Train Stations. Mr. Wilson further advised that Firebird will be applying for the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative grant program to fund the bicycle repair stations and to provide bike repair tutorials. He inquired about the City possibly providing a letter of support to be submitted with their application in June, 2021. Mr. Wilson noted they are hoping to have the bicycle stations in place for summer, 2022.

Councillor, A.M. Kungl provided some background context on Vision Zero.  Previous discussions were mentioned about whether or not things like Vision Zero would be considered, when referring to the website which is tied to the workplan.

Brett Gratrix, Infrastructure Planning Engineer mentioned they are working with the Ontario Traffic Council and other municipalities to develop a Vision Zero Policy.  He noted that it is anticipated to be wrapped up by the first quarter of 2022 and possibly used as guidelines for municipalities to use to develop a Vision Zero plan.
