He described the differences between a Taxicab Company - Brokerage, Taxicab Owner - Broker and Taxicab Driver.  Mr. Giles indicated how many taxi companies, taxicabs and taxi drivers existed in 2002, 2006 and 2012 and the value of the licence fees associated with each of the categories.  He discussed the increase in revenue the City has received generated from licence fees.  Mr. Giles examined the costs involved with operating a taxicab in Barrie and noted that he believes lowering the rates and offering a seniors discount will have a significant impact on revenue.  However it may generate more taxi rides.  Mr. Giles suggested that the proposed discount for seniors only be applied to cash fares and that the fares be rounded up to the next $.05 increment.
