Title: BRIGHT FUTURES BARRIE UPDATE Jessica Gourlie, Bright Futures Barrie Project Lead provided a background of the Bright Futures Barrie Project including its focus on supporting community programs for individuals between the 6 to 26 years old. Ms. Gourlie advised that the City of Barrie was awarded federal grant funding to support the development of the Bright Futures Barrie Strategy. Ms. Gourlie discussed next steps including the creation of a youth survey and suggested that the Youth Council work with Bright Futures Barrie on a survey. The Committee provided feedback to Ms. Gourlie and agreed to partner with Bright Futures Barrie on the youth survey.

Courser will follow up with Barrie Public Library on a toolkit, and report back at a future meeting. Heidi Huften, Recreation Programmer provided feedback on the City’s Recreation and Community Centres. Further discussion will take place at the next meeting.
