Title: PRESENTATION BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE OF A GIFT FROM ZWE?BR?CKEN GERMANY ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROSE GARDEN ZWE?BR?CKEN Janice Laking, Jean Maurice Pigeon and Bill Sargeant of the International Relations Committee provided a presentation regarding their visit to Germany on the 100th Anniversary of the Rose Garden Zwe?br?cken. Janice Laking presented a book entitled "Our Store" describing 75 years of the history of Canadian Tire and highlighting the contributions of the late Arch Brown. She noted that the book would be a nice addition to the City of Barrie's collection. Bill Sargeant commented that several members of the International Relations Committee attended the 100th anniversary of the Rose Garden Zwe?br?cken in Zwe?br?cken, Germany. Janice Laking, Jean Maurice Pigeon and Bill Sargeant of the International Relations Committee provided a presentation regarding their visit to Germany on the 100th Anniversary of the Rose Garden Zweìbrücken.
 
Janice Laking presented a book entitled "Our Store" describing 75 years of the history of Canadian Tire and highlighting the contributions of the late Arch Brown.  She noted that the book would be a nice addition to the City of Barrie's collection.  
 
Bill Sargeant commented that several members of the International Relations Committee attended the 100th anniversary of the Rose Garden Zweìbrücken in Zweìbrücken, Germany.  Mr. Sargeant provided a presentation with photos from the delegation's visit.  He stated that approximately 5 000 varieties of roses are planted in the garden.   He commented that the City of Barrie donated 6 rose varieties to the garden in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Rose Garden Zweìbrücken.  Mr. Sargeant stated that the rose garden of Zweìbrücken, has a floral display dedicated to each of its sister cities.  He suggested that the City could consider a similar display to acknowledge their sister cities.  He noted that the delegation spent much of their time touring local industries as well as learning about the culture and history of the local area.
 
Janice Laking presented Mayor Lehman with mementos from the Zweìbrücken delegation which includes a memento from York Town USA, information material from Zweìbrücken and a book entitled Le Pays Boulonnais.  Ms. Laking noted that a horse statue is being shipped to Barrie as a gift from Zweìbrücken.
 
Mayor Lehman thanked the representatives of the International Relations Committee for presenting the gifts on behalf of Zweìbrücken.  He commented on the importance of the delegation visits and strengthening Barrie's relationships with its twin/friendship cities.  Mayor Lehman thanked the members of the International Relations Committee and Global Ambassadors Program opportunity provided to students to learn more about other countries' culture.
