PRESENTATION CONCERNING URBAN DESIGN 101
Jordan Lambie, Senior Urban Design Planner provided a presentation concerning Urban Design 101
Mr. Lambie highlighted that the City recently released the draft New Official Plan and City-Wide Urban Design Guidelines for a 90-day public review and comment period.
Mr. Lambie discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• A description of urban design;
• The importance of urban design;
• The key urban design objectives for Barrie;
• Examples of urban design excellence in Barrie;
• An illustration depicting the multiple scales of urban design;
• The City’s vision, objectives and key components for urban design:
o The Urban Scale
o The District/Neighbourhood Scale
o The Block Scale
o The Human Scale
• The policies and procedures related to Urban design in Barrie.
Members of Committee asked a number of questions of City staff and received responses.
