Title: DEPUTATION REGARDING MOTION 16-G-142, OVERNIGHT PARKING PROHIBITION BRIGHTON ROAD (WARD 1) Ms. Cheryl Schneider provided a deputation in opposition to motion 16-G-142 concerning an overnight parking prohibition on Brighton Road. Ms. Schneider discussed the survey and notice provided by the City with respect to changes to the overnight parking prohibitions on Brighton Road in March 2015 and March 2016, including the options provided by staff. Ms. Cheryl Schneider provided a deputation in opposition to motion 16-G-142 concerning an overnight parking prohibition on Brighton Road. Ms. Schneider discussed the survey and notice provided by the City with respect to changes to the overnight parking prohibitions on Brighton Road in March 2015 and March 2016, including the options provided by staff. She noted the conversations she had with staff concerning parking on Brighton Road and related homes being turned student residences and non-residents living in some of the homes as well as the impacts they have on parking. Ms. Schneider commented that she had provided other options rather than restricting parking to the south side and felt her suggestions were not acknowledged.









Ms. Schneider indicated that the surveys provided by the City indicated that residents would be kept apprised of the process and stated her concerns that she was only notified the week prior to presentation of a report recommending changes to the overnight parking on Brighton Drive. She discussed the variance in the number of surveys sent by the City to the number of actual homes on Brighton Road. Ms Schneider advised that she conducted her own door to door survey concerning parking options for Brighton Road and provided the details of the results including that approximately 75 percent desire for the current parking provisions to remain and approximately 20 percent indicating that parking restrictions should be on the south side and not the north side, as was recommend. She noted the rationale associated with restricting parking on the south side, including that this was the side of the street with the sidewalk and the possible impact of the safety of children in the area.
