Title: ORO-MEDONTE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION - PROPOSED LEGACY PROJECTS - WAR OF 1812/1814 - STREET SIGNAGE PRESENTATION (12-G-163) Paul Marshall and Joanna McEwen, representatives of the Oro-Medonte Historical Association Ad Hoc Committee provided the Committee with a presentation regarding the proposed legacy initiatives surrounding the War of 1812 - 1814 and the impact it had on Simcoe County. Mr. Marshall and Ms. McEwen provided a description of the historic Village of Kempenfelt which was located near the base of Penetanguishene Road. They provided photographs of various artifacts that were discovered in the area. Mr. Marshall commented that the Village of Kempenfelt was the first registered plan in Simcoe County. The Committee discussed the opportunity to enter into a joint venture between the Township of Oro-Medonte and the City of Barrie to highlight the historic value of the Village of Kempenfelt.
