Title: OPEN DELEGATION REQUEST BY DOMENIC GUTTA REGARDING A REQUEST FOR A REFUND OF THE DEVELOPMENT CHARGES PAID FOR 11 AND 13 BRENNAN AVENUE Carla Tucker and her father Domenic Gutta provided an open delegation concerning a request for a refund of the development charges paid for 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue. Ms. Tucker advised that the properties located at 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue were purchased in 2010 with the intention of building a home. Ms. Tucker advised that the development charges on both of these properties were approximately $28,000 each and would have been waived if the redevelopment occurred on or before May 1, 2012 and September 1, 2014. Ms. Tucker advised that the redevelopment of these properties did not occur within the required timeframes to receive a refund of the development charges. OPEN DELEGATION REQUEST BY DOMENIC GUTTA REGARDING A REQUEST FOR A REFUND OF THE DEVELOPMENT CHARGES PAID FOR 11 AND 13 BRENNAN AVENUE

 

Carla Tucker and her father Domenic Gutta provided an open delegation concerning a request for a refund of the development charges paid for 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue.

 

Ms. Tucker advised that the properties located at 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue were purchased in 2010 with the intention of building a home.  Ms. Tucker advised that the development charges on both of these properties were approximately $28,000 each and would have been waived if the redevelopment occurred on or before May 1, 2012 and September 1, 2014.  Ms. Tucker advised that the redevelopment of these properties did not occur within the required timeframes to receive a refund of the development charges. Mr. Gutta discussed the actions undertook to communicate with the City regarding his concerns related to the development charges of 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue.  Mr. Gutta discussed the reasons for the delay in building the homes including approvals from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and their inexperience in permit/development processes which resulted in higher costs to develop the lands.

 

Ms. Tucker and Mr. Gutta requested whether any leniency could be given to provide them with a refund of the development charges for 11 and 13 Brennan Avenue. 

 

Members of Committee asked a numbers of questions of Ms. Tucker. Mr. Gutta and City staff and received responses.
