Mr. Bill Scott of the Barrie Historical Neighbourhood Strategy provided a presentation on concerning the 2015 Progress Report for the Historic Neighbourhood Strategy. Mr. Scott discussed slides concerning the following topics: * The background and mandate associated with the Strategy; * Representation on the Historic Neighbourhood Strategy Committee; * The short to long term goals of the Strategy, including the major goals of the strategy related to addressing property standards by-law infractions, infrastructure maintenance, unique signage in historic neighbourhoods and control of graffiti by replacement with murals; * Photographs of Barrie that potential sites for murals; * Photographs of examples of murals from other municipalities in Canada; * The long term goals of the Strategy including the development of framework to protect historic neighbourhoods and the Allandale Pilot...

PRESENTATION REGARDING THE 2015 PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE HISTORIC NEIGHBOURHOOD STRATEGY (HNS).

 

Mr. Bill Scott of the Barrie Historical Neighbourhood Strategy provided a presentation on concerning the 2015 Progress Report for the Historic Neighbourhood Strategy.

 

Mr. Scott discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     The background and mandate associated with the Strategy;

                     Representation on the Historic Neighbourhood Strategy Committee;

                     The short to long term goals of the Strategy, including the major goals of the strategy related to addressing property standards by-law infractions, infrastructure maintenance, unique signage in historic neighbourhoods and control of graffiti by replacement with murals;

                     Photographs of Barrie that potential sites for murals;

                     Photographs of examples of murals from other municipalities in Canada;

                     The long term goals of the Strategy including the development of framework to protect historic neighbourhoods and the Allandale Pilot Project; and

                     The future outlook associated with the Strategy including a request for a $10,000 budget.

 

Members of Council asked questions of the presenter and received responses.
