Title: PRESENTATION - ROYAL VICTORIA REGIONAL HEALTH CENTRE (RVH) PROGRESS UPDATE Janice Skot, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre(RVH) provided a progress update to City Council concerning the RVH expansion project. Ms. Skot began the presentation by expressing appreciation to Barrie City Council for the City of Barrie’s contribution of $52.5 million to the expansion project and Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Care Centre. She highlighted the components of the expansion project and Ms. Skot reviewed the new services being provided and described the innovative equipment being used as a result of the completion of Phase 1. She noted that renovations to the original building will be taking place in 2013. Ms. Skot commented that Rotary Place and the Family Medicine Teaching Unit are both operational. Janice Skot, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre(RVH) provided a progress update to City Council concerning the RVH expansion project. Ms. Skot began the presentation by expressing appreciation to Barrie City Council for the City of Barrie's contribution of $52.5 million to the expansion project and Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Care Centre.  She highlighted the components of the expansion project and Ms. Skot reviewed the new services being provided and described the innovative equipment being used as a result of the completion of Phase 1.  She noted that renovations to the original building will be taking place in 2013.  Ms. Skot commented that Rotary Place and the Family Medicine Teaching Unit are both operational.  She observed that the hospital has had the largest recruitment drive in the region's history.  She explained that with the expansion project almost complete, RVH launched a strategic planning exercise to provide guidance for the future.  Ms. Skot explained that advanced cardiac and child and youth mental health programs will be priorities in the coming years.  She concluded by thanking City Council for its continued support.
 
Members of City Council asked a number of questions concerning the information provided and received responses from the presenter.  Mayor Lehman expressed his appreciation to Ms. Skot for the update concerning the hospital expansion project.
