Title: PRESENTATION - SUNNYBROOK-OSLER CENTRE FOR PREHOSPITAL CARE - AGREEMENT WITH BARRIE FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE. Mick Caldwell, Platoon Chief, Barrie Fire and Emergency Service reported that two exciting initiatives have been launched. The first being an Agreement with the Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Care and the second is related to simultaneous dispatch. He stated that with the guidance of Sunnybrook Hospital and the simultaneous dispatch BFES will be able to continue to provide prompt, excellent, first respondent care to the citizens of Barrie. Dr. Paul Hoogeveen, Medical Director and Rob Burgess, Senior Director from Sunnybrook-Olser Centre for Prehospital Care provided an overview of the partnership between Barrie Fire and Emergency Service and Sunnybrook-Olser Centre for Prehospital Care and the provision of Cardiac Arrest Medical Oversight services. PRESENTATION - SUNNYBROOK-OSLER CENTRE FOR PREHOSPITAL CARE - AGREEMENT WITH BARRIE FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE.

 

Mick Caldwell, Platoon Chief, Barrie Fire and Emergency Service reported that two exciting initiatives have been launched.  The first being an Agreement with the Sunnybrook Centre for Pre-hospital Care and the second is related to simultaneous dispatch.  He stated that with the guidance of Sunnybrook Hospital and the simultaneous dispatch BFES will be able to continue to provide prompt, excellent, first respondent care to the citizens of Barrie.

 

Dr. Paul Hoogeveen, Medical Director and Rob Burgess, Senior Director from Sunnybrook-Olser Centre for Prehospital Care provided an overview of the partnership between Barrie Fire and Emergency Service and Sunnybrook-Olser Centre for Prehospital Care and the provision of Cardiac Arrest Medical Oversight services.  Dr. Hoogeveen described the Medical Oversight program and the educational criteria associated with the service.  He explained the certification criteria for the firefighters.  Dr. Hoogeveen detailed the quality assurance measures in place, including data collection and comparing the data to other systems across North America.  He concluded by stating that he is excited about working with the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service with the goal to improve patient care.
