Title: Anna Owens of St. Peter’s Secondary School thanked members of City Council for the opportunity to serve as Student Mayor. She commented that she is proud to call Barrie her home. Anna acknowledged the direct impact municipal decisions have on the day to day of citizens lives. She stated that after serving as Student Mayor she has a better understanding how municipal government functions. Anna concluded by noting that she is excited about the City of Barrie’s future after serving as Student Mayor. Jessica Zilney of Codrington Public School thanked members of City Council for the interesting experience of serving as Student Mayor. She noted that she has a better understanding of how issues and decisions are made by City Council. Jessica indicated that she will continue to watch Council on Monday evenings as she is interested in the outcomes associated with a number of matters. Carey deGorter, Deputy City Clerk called upon Michael Wozniak of Kempenfelt Bay School and Karyssa Bradshaw of Ardagh Bluffs Public School to be sworn into office as Student Mayors.
 
After being sworn into office, Michael and Karyssa assumed their seats on the dais next to Mayor Lehman.  Dawn McAlpine, City Clerk, introduced the members of City Council to Michael and Karyssa.  She noted that members of City staff and representatives of the community's media were also in attendance.
