Maeve Tebbutt of Codrington Public School thanked Mayor Lehman and the members of Council for welcoming her as the Student Mayor representing Codrington Public School.  She commented that her time as Student Mayor was an eye opening and educational experience and that she has learned a lot about municipal government during her term.  Maeve discussed some of the unforgettable moments she experienced during her term, including the poem read by the Poet Laurete, the passion of the citizens that attended the public meetings discussing their feelings regarding the planning applications in their neighbourhoods, how difficult the decision making process is, and the many sides to zoning.  In closing, Maeve stated that she started her term hopeful and is leaving astounded and confident as the interest of every citizen is considered that well as the interest in the City as a whole giving a new meaning to the term community.

Claudia DeFazio of St. Monica's Catholic School thanked Mayor Lehman and the members of Council for the opportunity to experience the inner workings of municipal government.  She commented that she found it fascinating that residents could come and share their points of view on matters that impact them, their families and neighbours.  She noted that she was impressed by the interest that the City of Barrie has in literature through its support of L-3 Writers Conference and the proclamation of Read Margaret Atwood Month.  In closing, Claudia thanked members of Council for all the hard work they put into the City and for the unforgettable experience.

Mayor Lehman presented Maeve and Claudia with certificates in recognition of their term as Student Mayors.
