CULTURE PLAN UPDATE AND PUBLIC ART STRATEGY UPDATE
Amanda Dyke, Cultural Development Officer and Carol-Ann Ryan, Public Art Coordinator provided a presentation to the committee regarding the City’s 10 year Culture Plan Update and Public Art Strategy Update.
Culture Plan Update
Ms. Dyke discussed the following:
• Phase 1 Highlights and Setting the Stage;
• Review of the community and stakeholder consultations done to date;
• Phase 2 Highlights and feedback received;
• Informing the strategy and current trends;
• The City’s role in culture and Barrie’s vision for Arts and Culture;
• Prioritizing actions and five (5) key themes;
• 2025 and beyond actions to continue and the implementation of the recommendations; and
• 2026 New Actions, next steps and background information regarding the six (6) priorities.
Members of committee asked questions and provided feedback.
Public Art Strategy Update
Ms. Ryan discussed the following:
• Current Public Art in Barrie and program insights regarding feedback received;
• Barrie’s Public Art Vision and Public Art Goals;
• Public Art Categories, as well as themes and locations;
• 2026 Actions and Next Steps;
