PRESENTATION BY S. BRUNET, MANAGER OF BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY CONCERNING THE CHANGES TO ONTARIO’S BLUE BOX REGULATIONS AND CITY OF BARRIE TRANSITION UPDATE
Sandra Brunet, Manager of Business Performance and Environmental Sustainability provided an presentation concerning the changes to Ontario’s Blue Box Regulations and the City of Barrie Transition Update.
Ms. Brunet discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An outline of the changes to the Ontario Blue Box Regulations;
• The legislation and the impact to the municipality;
• The changes to the Ontario Blue Box legislation and the influence on a circular economy;
• The impact to the municipality and current waste collection contract;
• The key challenges for the municipality; and
• The timelines associated with the municipalities blue box program to be in compliance with the Ontario Regulation 391/21: Blue Box.
Ms. Brunet explained that the presentation is considered an introduction to the changes to the Ontario Blue Box Regulations and that further updates would be provided at future meetings.
Members of Committee asked several questions of City staff and received responses.
