Michelle Banfield, Director of Development Services and Madeline Kowalchuk, Senior Planner provided a presentation concerning the City of Barrie Affordable Housing Strategy Update and Policy Options Discussion

 

Ms. Banfield and Ms. Kowalchuk discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     An update on the affordable housing strategy, and Phase 2 of the technical review process to review policy options;

                     A list of ten action items to assist in the development of affordable housing; 

                     Analysis of the ten action items identifying the level of impact, costs and timelines for implementation;

                     A list of thirteen additional initiatives to the action items that can be integrated into the strategy;

                     A summary of the Policy options organized in the four pillars: Policy Reform, Development Initiatives, Leadership, and Advocacy;

                     The key considerations identified for the affordable housing strategy; and

                     The next steps for the ongoing public consultation and review with the Technical Advisory Committee.

 

Members of Committee asked a number of questions of City staff and Nick Michael, Partner, and Josh MacLeod, Associate of N. Barry Lyons Consulting and received responses.
