CENTRAL ONTARIO MUSIC COUNCIL

Seconded by: Councillor, D. Shipley
1. That in light of the tourism and economic benefits to Barrie and area, a formal partnership between the City of Barrie and the Central Ontario Music Council be endorsed, to recognize the shared goal of developing the music culture and business as initiated by the many volunteers associated with the Music Council.
2. That staff in the Department of Culture report back via memorandum with a proposed formal Terms of Reference for the partnership.
AMENDMENT #1

That the direct motion concerning the Central Ontario Music Council be amended by:
a) Adding the words “the concept of” after the word “area” in paragraph 1;
b) Adding a new paragraph 2, as follows:
“2. That a letter be sent thanking the many volunteers associated with the Central Ontario Music Council for their efforts to date.”; and
c) Deleting the current paragraph 2 and replacing it with the following (re-numbered as paragraph 3):
“3. That the matter of the Central Ontario Music Council be referred to the Infrastructure, Investment and Development Services Committee for a presentation by staff and consideration of the following matters:
• The benefits the Music Council expects to receive by having a formally recognized partnership with the City of Barrie;
• The structure of the proposed Music Office in the City of Barrie; and
• The anticipated impacts to the community, including costs and benefits, of expanding the live commercial music industry in Barrie.”

Upon the question of the original motion moved by Mayor, J. Lehman and seconded by Councillor, D. Shipley, the motion CARRIED AS AMENDED by Amendment #1.
