GENERAL UPDATES:
B. Keene, Municipal Law Enforcement Officer I, provided the Committee with an update regarding Boarding, Lodging and Rooming Houses (BLR) and parking enforcement in the Georgian College area. Officer Keene discussed current standards for BLR's including the minimum distance separation requirements and commented that investigations of illegal BLR's are ongoing. He reminded the Committee that enforcement of parking within 1.5 m of a private driveway is complaint driven only, and not proactively enforced.
M. Beaudoin, Associate Vice-President of Student Services, Georgian College introduced K. Sutton and K. Fader, new Student Council Representatives for Georgian College.
Ms. Beaudoin advised the Committee that the College has appointed a new President and CAO.
B. Bowles, Barrie Police Services provided the Committee with an update regarding noise complaints within the Georgian College area and he provided a map noting complaints received in North End Barrie between September 1, 2011 and April 24, 2012. He noted that one third of the total noise complaints received todate in the City of Barrie occurred within the College area.
Committee Members asked questions regarding the information provided and received responses from City Staff.
