Honorary Colonel Hay advised that the Barrie Airshow is a culmination of the efforts of several partners including Canadian Forces Base Borden, the County of Simcoe and the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, First Responders, Downtown BIA, Tourism Barrie, and corporate sponsors. Mayor A. Nuttall acknowledged Honorary Colonel of CFSATE, Wayne Hay and the 2024 Barrie Airshow Committee for delivering an exciting airshow.  He called upon the Chair of the 2024 Barrie Airshow Committee, Honorary Colonel of CFSATE Wayne Hay to say a few words about the event.

 

Honorary Colonel Hay advised that the Barrie Airshow is a culmination of the efforts of several partners including Canadian Forces Base Borden, the County of Simcoe and the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, First Responders, Downtown BIA, Tourism Barrie, and corporate sponsors. Honorary Colonel Hay highlighted that the Members of the Committee consist of community volunteers who are not only passionate about aviation but also want to contribute to their community in addition to City staff, and that with their support the 2024 Barrie Airshow welcomed nearly 140,000 unique visitors to Barrie’s waterfront and downtown while contributing to the local economy. 

 

The following members of the 2024 Barrie Airshow Committee were recognized and presented with a gift:

 

                     Honorary Colonel of CFSATE, Wayne Hay;

                     Honorary Colonel of CFB Borden Jennifer Armstrong;

                     CFB Borden Lieutenant-Colonel Kevin Brown;

                     CFB Borden Operations Director, Rick Kurtzer;

                     CFB Borden Air Operations Director, Lieutenant Colonel Lyle Holbrook;

                     Jennifer Goodfellow, supporting performers coordination;

                     Executive Director of the Downtown Barrie Business Improvement Association, Craig Stevens; 

                     President of Hayco, Zach Hay;

 

City Staff:

                     Supervisor of Special Events and Programming, Ashley Chappell;

                     Tourism Coordinator, Kristen Eatch;

                     Community Events Coordinator, Arin Donnelly; and

                     Community Events Coordinator, Nicole Markle who was not in attendance.
