Title: FAMILY LITERACY DAY AND ONTARIO EARLY YEARS CENTRE Pat McCullagh of the Ontario Early Years Centre of Simcoe Community Services provided a presentation to City Council concerning the services and programs offered by the Early Years Centre. She noted that the Centre is committed to providing quality programs and activities that promote early literacy and school readiness skills for children ages 0-6. Ms. McCullagh explained that Family Literacy Day was celebrated on January 27, 2012 with various activities taking place at the Centre to promote literacy skills. As a parent utilizing the services of the Early Years Centre, Dulce Moreira commented that the programs offered through the Centre encourage child-parent interaction and strategies that parents can take home to practice with their children. She stated that the programs offered through the Centre have been valuable to her family and believes the Centre is an excellent resource for parents of young children.
