NATIONAL ACCESS AWARENESS WEEK
Kim Demberline, Chair of the Accessibility Advisory Committee provided a presentation to City Council regarding National Access Awareness Week. She recognized the members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee and read aloud the Committee's mandate. Ms. Demberline highlighted a number of accomplishments the Committee has achieved. She commented that the Committee has endorsed and is promoting National Access Awareness Week taking place May 28, 2012 until June 2, 2012. Ms. Demberline explained that the Committee is hosting guest speaker, Howard Gerry who will be providing a presentation concerning accessibility and universal design in the built environment at the Southshore Community Centre on May 23, 2012 from 9:00 am until 11:30 am. Ms. Demberline concluded by thanking City Council for their commitment to persons living with disabilities throughout the community.
Mayor Lehman thanked Ms. Demberline and the Accessibility Advisory Committee for their on-going work in the community.
