Presentation by Carla Ladd, Chief Administrative Officer concerning Invest Barrie: An Integrated Plan.
Ms. Carla Ladd, Chief Administrative Officer provided a presentation concerning Invest Barrie: An Integrated Plan. She discussed the Ideas in Motion interactive business event held in June of 2012 and identified the five key priorities that were developed, as follows:
1. Open for business
2. Alignment
3. Business Ambassadors
4. University ready
5. Our identity.
Ms. Ladd observed that five key priorities have been included in an integrated plan for Invest Barrie to continue to move Barrie's economy forward. She highlighted the framework associated with the integrated plan including the relationship between City core health; lifestyle, opportunity and jobs. Ms. Ladd reviewed the vision and mission statement for Invest Barrie as well as the guiding principles related to excellence; integration; opportunity driven and partnership based. She discussed the five goals of Invest Barrie, as follows:
1. To diversify our local economy
2. To have an effective, well-articulated and promoted brand
3. To position culture as a key driver of the creative economy
4. Downtown Barrie is the vibrant and creative heart of the City
5. Enhanced leadership, service alignment and delivery.
Ms. Ladd reviewed the actions related to each goal and provided an overview of work underway in each area. In closing, she discussed the progress and successes of Invest Barrie to date.
Members of Council asked a number of questions and received responses.
