PRESENTATION CONCERNING THE POET LAUREATE PROGRAM
Amanda Dyke, Culture Officer (Development), provided a presentation concerning the Poet Laureate Program.
Ms. Dyke discussed the slides concerning the following topics:
• The history of the program, including its creation, composition of the program, and the criteria and nomination process;
• The current nomination process for the Poet Laureate position;
• The adjudication process;
• The role and responsibilities of the Poet Laureate;
• The City’s support for the program;
• The current Poet Laureate background and accomplishments;
• A review of the key benchmarking data and common program expectations;
• The findings of the review by staff;
• Staff’s recommendations related to the goals of the program, deliverables asked of the Laureate, and the benchmarking exercise;
• The additional program requirements;
• The financial implications; and
• The next steps for the program.
Members of Committee asked a number of questions to Ms. Dyke and received responses.
