PRESENTATION BY REPRESENTATIVES OF KEMPENFEST (BARRIE) INC. REGARDING KEMPENFEST BY THE NUMBERS
Mr. Tom Aiken, Marketing, Sponsorship and Event Coordinator of Kempenfest (Barrie) Inc. provided a presentation concerning the Kempenfest Event.
Mr. Aiken discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• The number of years Kempenfest has been operating, the number of exhibits of the event, participants and sponsors and those involved in the event;
• The number of amenities;
• The anticpated entertainment at the 2016 event;
• The number of visitors and economic impact;
• The annual operating budget and expenses;
• The membership of the Kempenfest (Barrie) Inc.;
• The details and photographs illustrating the contributions of each of the member organization, including the Huronia Festival of Arts and Crafts, the Optimist Club, the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club, The YMCA, The Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Barrie;
• Photographs and music of the entertainment planned for the 2016 Kempenfest;
• The current in-kind contributions from the City of Barrie;
• The logistics of the Kempenfest operations;
• The average funding returned to the community resulting from funds raised at the event;
• The impacts on the event associated with loss of parking along the waterfront;
• The use of off-site park and ride areas; and
• The impacts on the event associated with park closures.
Members of City Council asked several questions of the presenter and City staff and received responses.
