PRESENTATION BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INTERNATIONAL PLOWING MATCH 2014 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE REGARDING THE 2014 INTERNATIONAL PLOWING MATCH AND RURAL EXPO
Mr. Cal Madill, Chairman of the International Plowing Match 2014 Executive Committee provided a presentation on the 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo to be held in Ivy, Ontario from September 16-20, 2014. Mr. Madill provided an overview of the activities associated with the event, the anticipated attendance, and the tourism and economic benefits for the City of Barrie and surrounding area.
Mr. Madill noted that the purpose of his presentation was to seek a partnership agreement with the City of Barrie for in-kind services and sponsorship of the Awards of Excellence Banquet, as follows:
· Provision of no-cost conventional transit service to the Plowing Match from a designated site, once daily, with an estimated value of $3,500;
· Acceptance at no-cost of an estimated 35,000 gallons of wastewater from at the Wastewater Treatment Facility during the period of September 16-20, 2014, with an estimated value of $3,500; and
· Sponsorship of the Awards of Excellence Banquet to be held on September 19, 2014, with an estimated value of $22,000.
Mr. Madill noted that the City of Barrie would be recognized through event promotions and advertising, and reiterated the social and economic benefits to the City of Barrie and Simcoe County. In closing, Mr. Madill thanked City Council for consideration of the International Plow Match Executive Committee's request.
