BECOMING A BIKE FRIENDLY CITY UPDATE
Brett Gratrix, Senior Project Manager - Transportation Planning provided an update on the requirements that still need to be fulfilled in order for the City of Barrie to apply for designation as a Bike Friendly City. He explained that the absence of an Active Transportation Planner staff member is a one of the big contributors to the City not being able to achieve full designation. B. Gratrix advised of the job responsibilities of this type of position.
The Committee discussed and asked questions and received responses concerning if the coordinator responsibilities could be added to another position in the City, potential cost sharing by sharing this position with another municipality, the position being hired as contract, if a coop student could fulfil the role, sharing the role and cost with Tourism Barrie and other responsibilities that this position could assume.
