Title: TOOLS FOR HERITAGE ARCHITECTURAL CONTROLS ALLANDALE HISTORIC NEIGHBOURHOOD (WARD 2 AND 8) K. Brislin, Senior Policy Planner provided an overview of the content of the report regarding the Tools for Heritage Architectural Controls - Allandale Historic Neighbourhood. She reviewed the challenges with protecting the heritage character of the Allandale Neighbourhood as it relates to the Provincial Growth Plan and in the absence of any properties with heritage designations in the Allandale Neighbourhood. She explained how staff developed the proposed tools for heritage architectural controls and reviewed the tools available under the Heritage Act and the Planning Act. Ms. Brislin provided a map illustrating the current development activity in the neighbourhood and reviewed the Allandale Historic Neighbourhood Boundaries. Brislin, Senior Policy Planner provided an overview of the content of the report regarding the Tools for Heritage Architectural Controls - Allandale Historic Neighbourhood.  She reviewed the challenges with protecting the heritage character of the Allandale Neighbourhood as it relates to the Provincial Growth Plan and in the absence of any properties with heritage designations in the Allandale Neighbourhood.  She explained how staff developed the proposed tools for heritage architectural controls and reviewed the tools available under the Heritage Act and the Planning Act.  Ms. Brislin provided a map illustrating the current development activity in the neighbourhood and reviewed the Allandale Historic Neighbourhood Boundaries.   
 
Committee Members asked a number of questions related to the information provided and received responses from City Staff.
 
Patricia Lancia of the Allandale Historic Neighbourhood Association provided comments regarding the consultation process.  She suggested that when the community consultation takes place, the boundaries and purpose of restoring historic neighbourhoods be clearly defined for the public.
 
Committee Members provided further comments regarding the importance of historic neighbourhoods.
 
Jim Perrin of the Allandale Historic Neighbourhood Association provided noted that he feels that new construction in a historical neighbourhood should be subject to standards that would ensure a building to fits the feel of the neighbourhood.
