Mr. Santos thanked members of Council and City staff for their leadership and continued support of the 5 Points Project. Mr. Santos advised that Advance Tech is excited to get started with this iconic project and he expressed that he believes the project will be a major contributor to the rejuvenation of the 5 Points area and Downtown Barrie as a whole. Mr. Joseph Santos, President of Advance Tech Developments provided a deputation in opposition to motion 18-G-061, Zoning By-law Amendment and Site Plan Conditions - Advance Tech Developments, 5 Points Site located at 2-14 Dunlop Street West, 41-43 Maple Avenue and 30-40 Bayfield Street.

Mr. Santos thanked members of Council and City staff for their leadership and continued support of the 5 Points Project. Mr. Santos advised that Advance Tech is excited to get started with this iconic project and he expressed that he believes the project will be a major contributor to the rejuvenation of the 5 Points area and Downtown Barrie as a whole.

Mr. Santos advised that he would be speaking on the Maple Lane access in contrast to the main motion that was recommended at General Committee last Monday. Mr. Santos commented that he believes their application supports the police report related to their design. He advised that they met with representatives of the Barrie Police to specifically review the inclusion of gates, doors, key pads, security monitoring, and their lighting plan as was proposed in the Site Plan. Mr. Santos advised that the police report confirmed the natural surveillance the building would provide and he noted that it's one of the main concepts used in good Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, with the natural access controls, and extensive lighting plan. Mr. Santos noted that the laneway is a service corridor that runs through the building and is approximately 80 feet in length and big enough to fit a large truck. He commented that a phone and key pad / fob system would be placed on both sides of the overhead doors for required access to the corridor....
