PRESENTATION REGARDING AN UPDATE ON THE DUNLOP STREET EAST CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS (MULCASTER STREET TO TORONTO STREET)
Alvaro Almuina, Project Coordinator provided a presentation regarding an update on the improvements to the Dunlop Street East Corridor between Mulcaster Street and Toronto Street.
Mr. Almuina discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An overview of the proposed improvements to the Dunlop Street East Corridor;
• Four images illustrating flexible street concepts;
• Three renderings illustrating the existing and proposed travel lanes, street enhancements, parking areas, and aspects of the design for Dunlop Street;
• Photographs illustrating the proposed materials for walkways, parking pads, boulevards, pedestrian crossings, bollards, trees and planters;
• A rendering illustrating proposed streetlights and their placement on Dunlop Street East;
• An illustration of the proposed intersections design for Dunlop Street including crossings, street enhancements, landscaping and benches;
• Photographs illustrating examples of Interlocking blocks and stamped asphalt options;
• Images illustrating the proposed changes to the 5 Points and Owen Street intersections to provide a safer environment for all users of the intersections;
• The proposed infrastructure improvements to the Dunlop Street East Corridor;
• The proposed preliminary phasing associated with the timing of construction during the project;
• The stakeholders consultation undertaken for the project; and
• The next steps and proposed timelines for the project.
Members of Council asked a number of questions related to the presentation and received responses from City staff.
